A guide to clear data and responsible technology
It is a privilege to look over the shoulders of our diverse teams week after week. On the Jira boards, we don’t just tick off tasks; we share ideas and explore new directions. Over the past week, three guiding principles have emerged that shape us as a company and guide us on our journey.
Data quality as the foundation of every decision.
Our marketing and development teams engaged in intensive discussions on how we can make the topic of data quality even more tangible. Good address data and clean customer records are not only the basis for accurate analyses, but also for trust and sustainable customer relationships. The discussion centred on how to convey this dry subject matter in a clear and engaging way, and what role intelligent duplicate detection algorithms play in this. An automated and error-resistant duplicate check saves time and resources, increases the efficiency of marketing campaigns and prevents multiple communications. This discussion extended beyond marketing copy: our developers considered how algorithms could be aligned even more closely with user needs and how data from various sources could be securely consolidated. Underlying all this was the shared conviction that clean data forms the basis of every well-founded decision.
Responsibility in the use of artificial intelligence.
In parallel, colleagues from senior management, product management and compliance were addressing the new regulatory framework for AI. With the AI Act, the European Union has created the world’s first comprehensive legal framework to address the risks of AI. The Act takes a risk-based approach and aims to promote trustworthy AI. Internally, we discussed the implications of these rules for our products and how we can integrate the principles of ‘Privacy by Design’ and ‘Explainable AI’ into our development process. The focus was not on implementing individual functions, but on the question of how we, as a company, can create a culture of transparency. Our aim is to combine technical innovation with high ethical standards.
Innovation through collaboration.
A third guiding principle was the realisation that true innovation can only emerge through collaboration. Several initiatives emerged in the boards where colleagues from marketing, sales, development and consulting worked together on solutions. These included new ideas for our demo environment, workshops with external partners, and feedback processes where insights from customer discussions are directly incorporated into product design. The topic of internal collaboration itself was also reflected upon: How do we create space for creative breaks despite packed schedules? How can we share knowledge across team boundaries? The answers to these questions were as varied as the teams themselves, but they had one thing in common: the desire to learn from one another and grow together.
Looking back over the past seven days shows that TOLERANT Software is more than the sum of its projects. Behind every ticket number are people who are thinking about how we can make data even more precise, processes more transparent and technologies more responsible. We grapple with new regulatory frameworks, we refine our products through dialogue between marketing and technology, and we create spaces for collaboration. It is precisely this blend of clarity, responsibility and curiosity that sets us apart. It enables us to break new ground week after week – for our customers, for ourselves and for a future in which data quality and ethical technology go hand in hand.
